Fishing lets characters reel in fish from waters across Eth-Ur, which can then be cooked or sold.
Buy a Fishing Pole from Fishing Supplies or a fisherman in Faelindral, then equip it in your main weapon slot (you’ll need to unequip your shield first, since it’s two-handed). Pick up some Grubs for bait while you’re there — you can fish without bait, but you probably won’t catch much. Grubs can also be gathered with the Forage skill. Trainers can be found on the docks in Night Harbor, near the fish monger and fishing supplies vendor.
Fishing doesn’t gate catches behind confirmed skill brackets the way most gathering skills do — what’s documented instead is rarity. Common fish like Whitefish and Basa are a safe bet anywhere; working up to Uncommon, Rare, and Very Rare catches is mostly about persistence and, for some fish, needing no bait at higher skill.
Always fish with Grubs equipped — going baitless works but slows down your catch rate. A few fish (Whitefish, Grouper, Tide Minnow) stop requiring bait once your skill is high enough, which is a good sign you’ve outleveled that catch.
Cooking — turns raw catches into fillets and prepared dishes.
Forage — an alternate way to stock up on bait.
